Emily currently stars on The Next Step (seasons 6 & 7) as Presley, the feisty young dancer who has big goals. TNS airs in the UK on CBBC and iPlayer, in Australia on ABC, in Canada on CBC Gem, and in the US on Netflix. Emily also appears in the famed opening audition scene in the Netflix film Feel The Beat starring Disney's Sofia Carson. She was Anne's double on Anne with an E (season 1) hired by Moira Walley-Beckett which aired for 3 seasons on CBC and Netflix worldwide. Emily has starred in several commercials, short films and on magazine covers since the age of 5. She also enjoys creating the occasional vlog when she has time!
Nominated for 2 Joey Awards in 2019 and 3 in 2020 - one for her self-directed music video for Warner Music Canada to Bebe Rexha's I'm A Mess and a second for her role as Presley on The Next Step - Emily is determined to continue to impress and entertain audiences of all kinds.
A dancer at heart, Emily began dance lessons at the age of two but soon took a liking to gymnastics, being very active and strong. She found her way back to dance at age 7 and since then has trained for 10 years, now in the elite company full-time competitive program at Canadian Dance Company. Training 25 hours per week in all genres and competing at 5 regional competitions and 1-2 national finals each year, Emily manages a very busy schedule while attending school full time as an honour roll student. She is also an excellent writer and public speaker.
Emily has had the good fortune to work with renowned teachers and choreographers both locally and internationally, including Allain Lupien, Rudy Abreu, Mia Michaels, Teddy Forance, Travis Wall, Paul Becker, Stacey Tookey, Nick Lazzarini, Chantel Aguirre, Andrew Winghart, Al Blackstone, Katy Spreadbury, Chaz Buzan and Talia Favia, Sorah Yang, Lex Ishimoto, Stephanie Rutherford, Natasha Louis, Taina Morales, Irina Egorova, and more. For years Emily has continued to wow audiences with her performances and improv abilities winning numerous awards at JUMP, NUVO, 24Seven, Hall of Fame, Starpower, The Knockout, Fever and MOVE dance competitions and conventions each year. In 2016 she placed 1st overall at both NUVO Chicago and JUMP Buffalo. In 2017 she won 2 x 1st overall titles as youngest in the tough teen division at both Fever International Dance Championships and The ONE National Dance Finals. In 2018 she placed Top 20 at The Dance Awards in a very competitive teen division and is thrilled to have been selected for both Camp Protege and as a Beat Squad member at Dancerpalooza in San Diego. In 2019 she placed an even better Top 10 Teen Best Dancer at The Dance Awards in Las Vegas, then was once again a Beat Squad member for Dancerpalooza. Most recently this January 2020 Emily held a two-week residency with Rudy Abreu's Embodiment THE Collective and RAdiance companies then performed in his Capezio A.C.E. Awards winner full-length show "The Overthinker" in Los Angeles. During quarantine 2020 Emily continued her personal training at home and was awarded top 18 Senior Best Dancer at The (virtual) Dance Awards and top 14 Senior Best Dancer at Radix (virtual) Nationals.
Emily's acting training includes both private and group classes at LB Acting Studios, Second City, and Armstrong Acting Studios.
Emily's musical interests include singing, guitar, ukulele and piano. She has performed in various theatre productions including Hairspray Jr. (Amber), The Little Mermaid (Flounder), and The Aristocats (Marie). In her spare time she loves to perform cover songs and dabble in her own compositions in her spare time - check out her cover of heyJ's Take Me . She also loves the ocean, photography, fashion, art and cooking/baking.
Professionally, Emily has been acting and modelling since age 5 when she first booked the cover of Today's Parent magazine. Emily has always been an outgoing, confident girl with a bright smile and a love of interacting with people and the camera. In addition to her work on The Next Step and Anne, Emily appeared as a dancer/actor in Hallmark Channel's TV movie A Nutcracker Christmas starring Sophia Lucia. Other credits include commercials for American Girl, Cineplex Odeon, Brand Power, Energizer, YTV, Barbie/Mattel, Walmart and more. She has also been a brand ambassador on social media for Five Dancewear as a Club 5 model, LovingTan, Justice, Forever 21 Kids, Ivivva, Garnier Canada, Call It Spring, NYX, Gem and Company, Zahara Swim, Second Skin Costumes, and HONEYCUT dance wear. Emily also portrayed a lead role as 'the other girl/mean girl' in Vivian Hicks' original music video #DISS.
She is only just at the start of her journey though, and she's excited for what's next!
Emily is no stranger to social causes and has a few that are close to her heart - including Plan Canada where she and her family have adopted a foster brother and sister. Leaders for Change, Because I Am a Girl, World Wildlife Federation and Oceana are also charities in which Emily has taken an interest.
